Giro d'Birra Technical Guide
Don't be a jerk! This one should apply outside the Giro d'Birra as well. While the Giro is open to all, we are actively maintaining a positive community.
Participation in official stages - Riders are strongly encouraged to participate in the official Giro d’Birra stage each day. In circumstances where participation is not feasible (e.g., due to geographic constraints, scheduling conflicts, etc.), riders are permitted to complete alternate stages. This could include everything from riding the official route at a different time, selecting their own route to the official brewery, or planning their own route and/or brewery for an alternate stage. Any alternate stage is subject to the same rules governing completion. These alternate stages should be communicated in advance and posted to the Giro d’Birra Strava group.
Stage completion criteria - Riders shall earn credit for a stage upon fulfilling the following conditions:
Riding a bicycle to a brewery that produces beer on-site.
Consuming a beer that has been brewed on-site (or an alternative non-alcoholic beverage) on the premises.
Documenting the stage by taking a photograph at the brewery and tracking the ride via GPS or other verifiable means.
Additional stage criteria:
Stages must be completed on a day when the Giro d’Italia is riding a stage.
Breweries may not be repeated. If a brewery operates multiple locations, only one location will be eligible for credit.
If a rider selects an alternate brewery and subsequently revisits the same brewery during a later official Giro d’Birra stage (or vice versa), only one stage credit will be awarded. The Giro d'Birra reserves the right to alter official stages to accommodate weather, which may impact riders having ridden alternate stages.
